Automobilista Beta2 Brings Major FFB and Tire Model Updates

In this article I’m going to be talking to you about a major update from Reiza Studios for Automobilista 2 Beta.  AMS2 Beta has moved from Beta 1 to Beta 2 and brought with it a number of significant changes to how the sim drives.

Now, at the end of my last video, I mentioned that I didn’t want to bombard you guys with too much from AMS2 and risk ruining the anticipation of the full release later this month, but I’m also seeing that this title is still the biggest news in sim racing, and the community seems to be really focused on how it drives vs Project CARS 2 and Automobilista 1.  Some big developments on that front come with this update, and we’ll get into some of those changes in a moment.  But for those who just want the skinny on what’s changed, I’ve listed some of the changes at the bottom of this article.

2019 F1 Cars in Assetto Corsa – Sim Racing’s Best?

Hardcore sim racers typically fall somewhere in the middle when it comes to Assetto Corsa’s “purity” as a racing sim, but there are some things that the PC and console sim do extremely well.  And some of these strengths translate very well to bringing Formula One action to sim rigs.

One example of this is Assetto Corsa’s KERS, DRS and MGU functionality.  Many sims now allow DRS systems (Automobilista, rFactor 2, RaceRoom and even recently GT Sport allow open wheelers to “flip the wang” and get more straight line speed.  However, finding a sim that allows programming of MGU units and KERS deployment is rare.  But as rare as that functionality is in sim racing, it’s undoubtedly a key function of this generation’s F1 cars.

My Best Assetto Corsa Competizione VR and FFB Settings

Assetto Corsa Competizione is still in Steam Early Access, but that doesn’t mean that sim racing fans don’t want to enjoy it and get the most out of what we have so far.  In this video I share my settings that have given me the best experience in VR so far, and the FFB steering wheel settings that have helped me enjoy the Ferrari and Nissan as much as I do.

I’ve listed my hardware specs in the video description, but in summary I’m running an i5 processor with a 1080 video card.  In most sims, that’s enough to power a VR race at high settings.  I run VR in Assetto Corsa, Project CARS 2, RaceRoom and rFactor 2 without any major issues with framerate.  Assetto Corsa Competizione from Kunos is the exception, at least in Early Access.  Hopefully you’ll be able to apply some of the same settings I use to help optimize your experience.

What is My Ideal Track Day Car?

__custom_showroom_1552276000Following up on a recent video I did about my ideal daily drive car, I decided to jump into the deep end of the fantasy pool, and choose which ultra rare, ultra performance car from Assetto Corsa I’d own if given an unrestricted choice.

Welcome to another episode of me living vicariously through video games.  Not exactly how I imagined my adult life would be, but whatever. So in this fantasy, I’m incredibly rich with access to a racetrack on weekends.  For a few hours I leave my  house cleaning staff to their own, and head to the track with my grown man toy in tow.  Let’s assume that I can only have one, that money is no object, and that you could actually buy one of these.
